Services to the Public

The museum holds information on local history, family history, archaeology. This includes documents, photographs and printed ephemera such as business billheads. Enquiries and researchers are welcome.

Identification of and opinion on archaeological, historical, fine and decorative art brought to the museum. The museum does not deal with enquiries relating to natural history. Staff are not permitted to give valuations.

Talks and guided tours to groups visiting the museum are available by prior arrangement.

The museum is always pleased to hear about material of local interest which it might consider acquiring for the collections.

Staff will be pleased to discuss with teachers how the museum and its collections might be able to assist them.

The museum service is committed to the concepts of life long learning and the preservation of local heritage for the present and future generations to enjoy.
